What We Do

22 Years servicing the Financial Industry

Started in 1987, UMS Banking was formed in the era of credit cards being manually imprinted and paper drafts submitted for processing through the local community bank. When a business wanted to know if a card was ‘approvable’ for a purchase, they just turned to their trusty 12 inch thick printout from Visa and MasterCard listing all the expired, cancelled or known problem cards (updated once a month).

Our first program was helping community banks convert to electronic processing. We are still servicing some of those same bank portfolios to this day. Our staff of 70 back up our commitment to our clients.

We have stayed on top of developments in the payment processing industry while building our service level and expanding our client base. By the end of 2008, our processing volume topped almost one and a half billion dollars. It will also mark the beginning of our 8th year servicing the fair family.

Fair Service

When we started servicing the Western Fairs Association in 2001, we came in at the request of a Northern California bank. Over the next two years, we found our niche and stepped up to the plate. The bank ….? They were bought and dropped the program. We stayed. We have created a complete payments program and work very closely with the Associations to ensure we are meeting your needs.

We want to be able to enhance the fair experience for your customers, clients, and attendees. By enabling you to offer convenient, secure access to as many of their payment options as possible, thereby allowing them the maximum benefits at the fair. No one likes to run out of money at the fair!

7 Years on the SERVICE Road (The UMS story)

Starting in 2000, UMS began showing up at fairgrounds and association meetings all over the western United States. With the US and the world just over the infamous Y2K scare, UMS worked with WFA management and members on establishing a secure payment processing platform that delivered the “behind the scenes support” as well as the client facing functionality.

Now recognized all over the country, and regular participants at both WFA and IAFE Conventions, as well as regional meetings and on the Fairgrounds, the Fair Payment Processing Team is your reliable source for answers.

We LOVE The FAIR

Through the years of service to the fair industry, UMS Banking and now Fair Payment Processing, has become aware of the fundamental, vital role that the Fairs and exhibitors, vendors and support crews provide to the society as a whole.

The crucial training in personal and group responsibility and personal development provided by the fair and fair related groups – 4-H; other service organizations; the family values and businesses that make up the fair, are all values we support. The connection to real entertainment and education value available at the fair has never been more important.

We only hope that through providing an efficient, cost effective, fair Payments program that we can help contribute in our own way to the expansion and success of this activity.

Credit Card Processing

Credit Card processing has been our bread and butter product for over 21 years. For a more complete education of how the system works go to Training & Education. There is also a large glossary of terms used in the payments industry. Often, understanding the terminology of the product you are dealing with will help manage the product better.

Accepting credit card payments is only there to help increase your sales and ultimate business success. Our job, as we see it, is to ensure you have all the knowledge you need to make informed decisions and to help you make the correct decision. The world of payment options and processing solutions is a very confusing one to walk into. We want to help you as your guide.

Delivering what we PROMISE

Our goal is to do so well delivering you what you need, that you will feel comfortable referring us to another. There are four levels of exchange:

1. No exchange or complete rip-off
2. Partial exchange – you get most of what you were promised
3. Full exchange – you get everything you expected and were promised
4. “over the top” exchange – this is where you get what you expected and even more. The truck you bought not only pulls twice the load you were promised, it also gets twice the mileage and has a built in generator that you find can run your units at half the cost.

At UMS Banking and Fair Payment Processing our commitment to you is to deliver at least at level 3 and get to level 4 as often as we can.

The FUTURE

2009 Planning
In 2009 we launched our new website you are on right now www.fairpaymentprocessing.com (FPP). Expect to see regular updates and website specials as we continue to develop this access point. By mid-year, we have plans to add an access portal for all our Fair clients (fairgrounds, food and beverage, entertainment, commercial, services, etc.) to provide online access to transactional information and other special benefits. This will only be available to FPP (and UMS Banking) clients through a “MYFPP” gateway. More to come on this. We are also expanding our Fair Rental Program.

Expect to see Sharrel and Rubik at regional meetings, Association events, and possibly right on your fairgrounds. Email or contact us for more information. Keep in mind, we offer a total solution on Payment Options.

2010 Planning
Following our 2009 pilot programs with Contactless credit cards at selected venues, we plan to roll out this program in a big way to WFA and IAFE members. There are many benefits such as speed and efficiency. No swipe – just “tap and go”. There are security benefits as well as the faster speed of service to your clients. Contact rubik@myfpp.com for more information on this program. Early 2009 contactless cards in the US market numbers are 60 Million, predominantly in the Eastern US.

2011 Planning
Plans are to continue the program roll out to encompass further integration with software companies servicing the industry and to provide the full suite of products (ATMs, credit card processing, gift cards, ACH etc. – Please see full list under Products) to an increasing number of clients.
